Service & Philanthropy

CASA

Kappa Alpha Theta's national philanthropy is Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), an organization that trains volunteer advocates to serve as a voice in court for neglected and abused children. Our chapter puts on a number of events to raise money for CASA and volunteers personally for CASA of Collin County throughout the year, including volunteering at the annual Collin County CASA golf tournament and Voices for Children Gala Benefit. Zeta Upsilon also holds a booth on campus the first Thursday of every month to spread awareness about CASA and its aims to help neglected and abused children.

Zeta Upsilon's annual philanthropy event held every fall aims to raise awareness for CASA within the UTD and local communities, as well as raise profits benifitting CASA of Collin County. Our signature philanthropy event, a 5K hosted by the chapter, was awarded Program of the Year in 2012 and 2013. At our KATs Making Tracks 5K in 2013, Zeta Upsilon raised $4,300 worth of donations for CASA of Collin County and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.

Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation

The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation supports our education programs as well as our national philanthropy, CASA. A leader in the Greek Community, the Foundation provides approximately 200 scholarships totaling more than $500,000 each year to collegiate and alumnae Thetas for undergraduate and graduate studies.  Zeta Upsilon actives and alumnae along with local members of the Plano Alumnae chapter have been beneficiaries of both scholarships and educational grants.

Created by Thetas for Thetas, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is dedicated to raising money through our members and friends to strengthen our fraternity via scholarships, educational and leadership opportunities, and the support of sisters in times of need.

The Zeta Upsilon chapter makes community service and philanthropy events fun for our sisters, UTD students, and the community at large.  From working with CASA, to volunteering at 5Ks, we consider service to be one of the most important aspects of our fraternity.

Aside from our involvement in chapter-sponsored philanthropy events, individual members also pursue personal activities.  Thetas can frequently be seen volunteering their time at local animal shelters, collecting food for the UTD Comet Cupboard, and participating in missionary work.
